Best Hotels In Las Vegas: Tropicana Las Vegas Review 2021

If you are taking the journey to visit a faraway land as unique and special as Las Vegas, you will not want to dampen your experience by staying anywhere less than spectacular.  This resort city is internationally renowned as The Entertainment Capital of the World and sets the standards for gambling, shopping, fine dining, and nightlife.

Comfort and convenience are the main intentions for guests of the Tropicana Las Vegas. It is set in an optimal location on the south side of the Strip at the famed Four Corners with easy access to any of the towers. Pleasant birds-eye-like views of the Strip from nearly every corner enforce comfort while overhead pedestrian bridges linking to the neighboring MGM Grand and the Excalibur allow you to get around easily and save that energy for fun on the floor.

Multiple towers compose the Tropicana Las Vegas resort. Some are strictly hotel rooms like the Paradise Tower whereas others like the Club Tower feature the Trinidad Pavilion, a Spa/Fitness center, a wedding chapel, and conference center.

A History of Resilience: The Tropicana Las Vegas

The Tropicana Las Vegas was opened April 4, 1957 after a 2 year construction period that ran over both schedule and budget. Ben Jaffe, a former executive of the Fontainebleau Miami Beach aimed to transform the 40-acre property into the finest hotel Las Vegas had ever seen.

After suffering from competition with Caesars Palace and Hilton, Tropicana changes ownership a few more times. Construction of the Tiffany Tower in 1977 begins in an effort to overcome financial difficulties. In 1978 the Tropicana was the target of a mob skimming operation exposed by the FBI and again forcing new ownership which fell in the hands of Ramada Inns.  Later in 1986 the Island Tower’s 21 stories were constructed.

Over the years there have been multiple owners and remodels, but since 2015 has been owned by Gaming and Leisure Properties and operated by Penn National Gaming, a franchise of Hilton’s DoubleTree. The most recent renovation in 2011 gave the hotel a Miami South Beach themed facelift with attention to new dining facilities.
